Arsenal player ratings vs Burnley as Havertz delivers while Odegaard struggles

Arsenal secured a narrow win over Burnley. However, the performance felt far from convincing.

Kai Havertz stepped up again. Still, the overall display lacked sharpness and control in key moments.

Mikel Arteta’s side dominated the ball. Yet, they failed to turn that control into real attacking threat. As a result, the game stayed tense far longer than it should have.

Player Ratings

David Raya – 6

He had little to do. However, he stayed alert and kept things simple when needed.

Cristhian Mosquera – 6

He defended well enough. Still, he offered very little going forward.

William Saliba – 7

Calm and composed throughout. He read the game well and dealt with danger early.

Gabriel Magalhaes – 5

A shaky performance. He looked uncomfortable and never fully settled.

Riccardo Calafiori – 6

He showed energy and intent. However, his final ball often lacked quality.

Midfield lacks spark as pressure builds in title race

Martin Odegaard – 5

A quiet night. He struggled to control the tempo and failed to create enough. Arsenal needed more from their captain.

Declan Rice – 7

He held everything together. He broke up play well and kept possession moving.

Eberechi Eze – 7

He looked sharp and confident. He carried the ball well and tried to make things happen.

This is where the concern grows. Arsenal are winning, but performances like this will not settle nerves. In fact, with pressure building, consistency becomes everything.

That pressure has already been around the club internally as Arsenal face awkward Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly decisions, showing how fine the margins are at this stage of the season.

Attack delivers result but still lacks cutting edge

Bukayo Saka – 6

He stayed involved. However, Burnley managed him well and limited his impact.

Kai Havertz – 8

He made the difference again. He took his goal well and delivered in a key moment. Big players step up when it matters, and he did exactly that. Controversially to neutral fans, he might have “got away” with a sending off.

Leandro Trossard – 6

He started brightly. Still, he faded and failed to influence the game late on.

Substitutes

Viktor Gyokeres– 6

He added energy. However, he could not find the final touch.

Myles Lewis-Skelly – 5

He brought some life to the game but Burnley were persistent.

Piero Hincapie – 6

He helped close the game out. Simple and effective.

Gabriel Martinelli – 5

Breath of fresh air. Brought his usual pace to finish the game just didn’t take his chances.

Martin Zubimendi – 5

Did well defensively to keep the lead and seal the win.

What does this mean for Arsenal?

Arsenal got the result. That is what matters most right now.

However, performances like this raise questions. The control is there, but the ruthlessness is not.

That is why moments like Arsenal making moves for players compared to Vinicius Jr matter even more. The club are clearly planning for the future, but the present still demands more.

If Arsenal want the title, they must find another level.

matchday.
