Declan Rice earned plaudits for his excellent showing in defensive midfield for Arsenal in their 1-0 win against Burnley.

Gary Neville praised Rice’s display against Burnley as he felt the 27-year-old “held things together” for the hosts in the middle of the park as they secured a nervy, yet crucial victory.

After the game, Rice lauded David Raya and Arsenal’s defence as he believes the Gunners would be lost without them.

However, one man who often does not get the credit he deserves and yet again, he managed to deliver on Monday night was none other than Leandro Trossard.

Leandro Trossard was excellent for Arsenal vs Burnley

Trossard was lively against Burnley, especially in the first-half and the Arsenal winger caused plenty of problems to Kyle Walker.

In recent weeks, it seems like the Belgian is taking the onus to emerge as Mikel Arteta’s difference-maker and that was evident early on in the game as he drove with the ball and struck the post from range. The 31-year-old went on to amp the crowd up, which suggests how keen the forward is to win the title.

Recently, Trossard scored Arsenal’s winner against West Ham as well while providing an assist in a sparkling showing against Fulham. What was particularly intriguing about Trossard’s performance against Burnley was his approach against Walker.

The former Manchester City right-back is still very quick and Trossard seemed to realise that taking him on at every opportunity would be futile.

Instead, the former Brighton attacker caused Walker plenty of problems with his passing, finding runners like Riccardo Calafiori and Eberechi Eze with stunning deliveries.

Trossard’s direct approach to running in behind and delivering crosses made him a constant threat and when he had the chance to take on his man, he was successful as well in what was a top-class display.

Leandro Trossard stats for Arsenal against Burnley

Arsenal fans will be appreciative of how Trossard has stepped up in the title run-in.

Considering he has looked out of form for much of the second half of the season, the Maasmechelen-born star’s upturn in performances off late has come as somewhat of a surprise.

However, Trossard deserves rave reviews for his uptick in form, as was evident as Arsenal beat Burnley.
