At a Glance:
- Arsenal’s win over Burnley means they are one game away from Premier League glory
- Gary Neville credits one specific aspect as to why the league title is now theirs
- Martin Keown added that fan support has also been essential
Arsenal did not secure a dominant win over Burnley as some may have expected, but fans will ultimately not be disappointed with how things turned out following the Gunners’ 1-0 win.
Kai Havertz delivered a Man of the Match performance in a game where their opponents were able to nullify stars such as Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, but ultimately Arsenal left the Emirates with three points.
If Manchester City is unable to win against Bournemouth on Tuesday, then the title will be heading to the Emirates for the first time in 22 years and for only the third time this century.
City can take positives from how the North London team played against Burnley, but Gary Neville has come out with his reason why he thinks the title race is now effectively over.

Gary Neville says Arsenal is ‘right on the brink’ of a Premier League title, thanks to their strong defense
Speaking on Sky Sports post-game, Gary Neville offered a statement that confirmed his belief as to why Arsenal look like league champions already regardless of what City do.
Neville stated:
“They’re [Arsenal] right on the brink [of a title]. But my goodness, they don’t half make it difficult for themselves. You have to admire their ability to concentrate and focus and keep to their defensive shape and principles. They keep clean sheets. That’s a rare commodity in the modern game for teams to be able to see out 1-0 wins like this team can. It’s going to be enough to see them home.”
With another clean sheet in the bag, goalkeeper David Raya now has 19 clean sheets in 37 league games and has won this season’s Golden Glove award—a testament to both his ability and the ability of the Arsenal back four.
Martin Keown says that fan support will be crucial to ensure Arsenal win the Premier League
Also speaking on Sky Sports, Martin Keown gave credit to fans at the Emirates for how they rallied behind their team, and suggested that the same sort of energy is brought by the away fans at Crystal Palace on the final day of the season at Selhurst Park.
“Unconditional support you saw there [at the Emirates on Monday night]. The performance wasn’t perfect, but the support was 100% there. You need that now at Selhurst Park. Two big games now for their season, to think it’s 22 years, it’s ridiculous. This great club will surely win it again now, but there’s still an awful lot to happen before then,” said Keown.
