Arsenal Transfer News Today: Fernandes update, Trossard to Besiktas, Barcola contract

At a Glance:

  • Arsenal target Mateus Fernandes is closing in on a switch to Manchester United.
  • Besiktas want to sign Leandro Trossard.
  • Paris Saint-Germain are now open to selling Gunners target Bradley Barcola.

Despite the World Cup commencing on Thursday, Arsenal’s transfer activity is expected to kick into gear very shortly.

15 Gunners stars are currently in North America, set to represent their nations on the biggest stage. The volume of players at the tournament is a reflection of Arsenal’s current standing in World football, and Andrea Berta is eager to build on this moving forward.

Several players have been linked with a switch to North London, with Berta reportedly eyeing a left winger, a central midfielder and right-back. With that said, here is the latest Arsenal transfer news today, including updates on Mateus Fernandes, Leandro Trossard and Bradley Barcola.

Manchester United expected to beat Arsenal to Mateus Fernandes

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Mateus Fernandes this summer. The Portuguese enjoyed an excellent 2025/25 campaign with West Ham United, despite the Hammers’ relegation, and is now expected to depart the London Stadium in a big-money move.

However, the Gunners are reportedly set to miss out on the 21-year-old. Times Sport report that Fernandes is closing in on a switch to Manchester United, who may be prepared to meet West Ham’s £80 million asking price.

United have just lost veteran Casemiro, meaning their need for midfield reinforcements is urgent. Meanwhile, Arsenal are being more cautious in their approach in this department, after the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly as an option in the middle of the park.

Besiktas eye Leandro Trossard

Leandro Trossard is on Berta’s transfer list this summer. The Belgian’s contract with the Gunners expires next year, meaning this window represents a natural opportunity for the two parties to part ways.

According to Turkish outlet Sporx, Besiktas are preparing an official offer for Trossard. The Super Lig giants have already put resources aside for the deal, allocating a fee of €20 million, and an annual salary of €7 million for the player.

Trossard has also been linked heavily with a number of Premier League clubs, so it remains to be seen whether he’s willing to forgo staying in the English top flight for a switch to Istanbul.

Bradley Barcola contract talks with PSG stall

While Morgan Rogers is seemingly Arsenal’s primary attacking target, Bradley Barcola has also been mooted as a candidate to fill the void on the left-hand side of Mikel Arteta’s attack. Barcola finds himself behind the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele in the pecking order at Paris Saint-Germain.

This may prompt him to push for a move this summer, and according to French journalist Loic Tanzi, no progress has been made in contract talks between Barcola’s camp and PSG. It’s now understood that the Ligue 1 winners are open to selling the 23-year-old.

Arsenal are likely to be one of a whole host of clubs interested in landing Barcola’s signature, with Liverpool already cited as a potential suitor.
