Arsenal take academy group to Spain as three World Cup stars return

Several Arsenal youngsters travel to Spain with Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad as preparations for the 2026/27 season gather pace.

Ceadach O’Neill, Theo Julienne and Khari Ranson are among the academy players selected for the training camp before Saturday’s friendly against Girona.

Brayden Clarke, Demiane Agustien, Ismeal Kabia, Andre Harriman-Annous, Josh Ogunnaike and Louie Copley also appear to have made the trip.

Max Dowman and Marli Salmon remain with the senior group, while Ethan Nwaneri and Reiss Nelson travelled after featuring in the 3-0 win over MK Dons.

Jeorge Bird’s Arsenal Youth report identified the travelling academy players through photographs published by Arsenal.

O’Neill strengthened his claim for further opportunities by scoring the third goal against MK Dons. Agustien provided the assist, while Dowman and Kabia also produced encouraging moments.

ReadArsenal examined the major positives from that victory, including the impact made by Arteta’s academy players.

Kai Havertz, Piero Hincapié and Viktor Gyökeres have now returned following their World Cup involvement. Christian Nørgaard, Jurriën Timber, Ben White, Fabio Vieira and Tommy Setford have also travelled despite missing the MK Dons match.

Arsenal youngsters travel to Spain with a genuine opportunity to impress Arteta while several senior internationals remain unavailable.

The Gunners face Girona on Saturday, 1 August in their first public friendly of the summer.
