Arsenal to move for Leicester wide-man

Leicester City’s Jeffrey Schlupp is the latest player rumoured to be on Arsenal’s radar, according to reports.

After a fairly quiet recent transfer window, with Petr Cech being the only Arsenal signing of the summer, Arsene Wenger is set to splash out £10 million on the 22-year-old left back, who can also play left midfield, report GhanaSoccerNet.

The youngster picked up Leicester’s Young Player of the Year award last season after his excellent contribution to the Foxes’ relegation battle, keeping them in the Premier League.

Schlupp is contracted to remain at Leicester until 2019, and Blue’s manager Claudio Ranieri is keen for him to stay, as well as other key players in the squad that have been linked away from the club.

We don’t sell him (Jamie Vardy), he is very happy here. It is too early to speak about it.

He stays with us- nobody leaves in January. Not Riyad, Mahrez, not Jeffrey Schlupp, nobody.

We want to achieve our goals as soon as possible. We need all our best players.

Ranieri will do his best to hold on to a player with a club like Arsenal swooping in, especially as Leicester are doing so well this season thus far, sitting joint top of the table with the Gunners themselves, and Manchester City just 12 games in.

Schlupp will be tempted to make the move over to London if Wenger was to bid, despite turning down a permanent move to Manchester United, and joining Sir Alex Fergurson in 2013 after a successful trial.
