Gabriel set to miss first two months of the season

Although Arsenal beat Manchester City 3-2 in their final pre-season game, it also came with a slight caveat, Gabriel Paulista’s injury.

Arsenal are already without Per Mertesacker and now, as reported by BBC journalist and Arsenal aficionado, David Ornstein, Gabriel will be out for 6-8 weeks.

Arsenal will now be left with Rob Holding, Calum Chambers and Laurent Koscielny – who will likely miss the first game – to fill the gap in defence.

Reports have linked Arsenal with a new defender, such as Shkodran Mustafi. With this new injury, Arsenal’s hunt for a new defender must surely be accelerated.

This week will be a huge one for the club. Not only do Arsenal need a new striker and a centreback but they also face a crunch game against Liverpool on the weekend. An interesting few days for Arsenal fans lie ahead.
